Swim Lesson - Take Two

Lila had her second swim lesson on Saturday and, of course, loved it....Eric didn't seem to mind it too much either. Like last time, they fetched their ducks and sang Wheels on the Bus. It's always funny when the song tells you to blow bubbles because the parents are the ones who do it.


Saturday afternoon we ran over to Red Lodge to check out the Skijoring Championship. It was...interesting, but little chilly for Lila. Ironically enough, we chose to go have ice cream instead of standing out in the cold. Lila was a big fan of the waffle cone. It took a couple tries to get her to take a bite and not grab it with her hands but she caught on.

Lila is getting better at walking everyday....and worse at falling. She's up to about eight steps before she does a face-plant into the carpet.

Lila's First Swim Lesson

Lila had her first swim lesson this morning and did very well. She's definitely not afraid of the water and even dunked her head a couple times. We learned how to get in and out of the water, we threw the ducky in and jumped in after it, we threw the ducky and swam to get it and we did a lot of playing and singing songs. I do wonder if Jake is a bad influence on her though, she kept fetching the duck in her mouth instead of her hands.

She's Ruined Forever!

After almost 10 days of grandparents, Eric and I are confident that Lila with never be the same. She was held constantly, had her first taste of dessert, had a stroller ride almost every day, experienced her first boat show....and....took her first steps. We can now officially say that Lila is walking...ish. Her best showing was last night, when she stood up and took about 3-4 steps on her own. About the 4th step she realized what she was doing and quickly plopped back to the floor.

Weekend with G-ma and G-pa V.

Last weekend my Lila's grandma and grandpa Vaplon came up to spend the weekend with her while Eric an I went for a weekend in Red Lodge. Skiing was a little chilly and we definitely weren't in shape for it, but we had a lot of fun and we really enjoyed our mini vacation.


Lila didn't seem to miss us too much. She was getting pretty spoiled by her grandparents, but she did manage a little wave for me when we got home. Lila and her grandpa Vaplon hanging out downstairs.
It took a little effort, but I was finally able to pry Lila away from her grandparents so I could take her into daycare on Monday so she could show off her new tricks. In the past week she's gotten really good at standing up on her own. She'll just be sitting in the middle of the room paying, decide to stand up for a few seconds and then fall back down. She's also started working on her first steps. Eric and I disagree on what counts :) but yesterday she stood up and took a step to grab on to the wall. And for her final act, today she started crawling up the stairs and then crawled backwards down the stairs. Ta Da!

Eric and I were in the kitchen when we heard Lila in the next room just cracking herself up. Lila has always loved the sound her pacifier makes when it clicks plastic against plastic, so she was thrilled when she found her pacifier was still attached to it's leash and made even BETTER sound effects.

10 Months...ish

Lila isn't quite walking yet but she's getting crazy fast. I can't hardly take a picture of her from a distance anymore. The second I look down, she's already there grabbing for the camera.
She has really been enjoying grownup food. Her favorite is probably hot dogs but I think she has more fun with spaghetti.
I was shocked the other day when I went to leave her at daycare. I waved goodbye and she waved back, well, sort of. She just kind of holds her hand up and moved her arm up and down.
The stairs now pose no obstacle at all for Lila. Eric and I are definitely getting a work out following her up and bringing her back down...and following her up......and bringing her back down.
We're still working on Lila's walking with her little walker, but she seems to only do it to humor us. She's very aware of the fastest way for her to get around and it doesn't take long for her to get bored and drop back down to hands and knees.
