Feeding the Ducks

Lila and I went to the duck pond again this weekend. She must be getting more comfortable with them because she chased the ducks around throwing food at them and yelling "ducky eat! ducky eat!"

Happy Halloween

Lila had a good Halloween weekend this year. She dressed up as a witch and we went to one the the churches in town where they were having a big party for the kids. It was crazy busy but she walked around saying "trick or treat" to the people with candy who we pointed out to her. She would then reach into her stash and try to hand them a piece of candy. She never really got that they were suppose to be giving her candy.

The same weekend of Halloween Lila got a new "pet," or at least she thought she did. Eric got a couple pheasants when he went hunting and Lila became attached to them very quickly - petting the bird and telling it how pretty it was. She cried when she couldn't take it inside. (probably didn't help that she then got scrubbed down head to foot in the bath)

After the incident with the pheasant, Eric thought he'd try introducing her to some live birds. They went to a park in Billings where you can feed the ducks and she had a great time throwing her cereal to the birds.

My little artist

I picked up some finger paints for Lila this weekend so we thought we'd try them out today. She was a little unsure at first, wanting me to wash off her hands each time she noticed she had paint on them. I finally convinced her that the fun of finger painting was getting a little messy. 15 minutes of painting and 1/2 hour of cleanup later I began to wonder what in the world I was thinking trying to make my kid messier.

Arrrrgh Matey!

One of our friends just sent me this picture of Lila and her friend Cohen playing. It was taken a little while ago, but I think it really shows her "personality" so I had to share. She had good timing sending it since I just heard how she was picking on one of the boys in her class yesterday, poking him while yelled at her to stop. Such a little bully :)

South Dakota in July

It's a couple of weeks late but I'm finally getting around to uploading the pictures from Lila and my trip to Spearfish. Lila had a great time visiting with all of the Wolffs up at Wickiup on Saturday (you guys will have to send me pictures for her book). Sunday was spent at the new water park in Spearfish and Monday was jam packed with playing in Spearfish Park and visiting the fish hatchery.

Happy 4th of July!

This weekend we took a trip to Yellowtail Reservoir for a little fishing and fun in the sun. Lila did amazing. She hung out and played on the boat most of the day watching Eric and me shoot carp... well, she watched Eric shoot carp and watched me shoot at them. We also hiked up to a waterfall some friends told us about and took a dip in the pool. On our way back to the dock so Lila could take a nap she fell asleep, so she took a nap in the bottom of the boat while continued to cruise the lake. By the end of the day, we were all exhausted and all but Lila were pink from the sun but we had a great time.

Playhouse

Lila had lots of company this weekend. Her Grandma and Papa Vaplon and Aunt Krista and her cousin Allie came up to visit. The big weekend project was a new playhouse for Lila that her Papa built under her swing set. She is completely in love with it and spends every outdoor moment opening and closing the door on us.

June

Even with all the rain we got, we managed to fit a lot in to the few sunny hours and enjoy the weekend. Saturday, Eric and Lila had DQ while I was at class (leave them alone for 5 minutes and he's letting her eat fast food), and then we went to a friends house for a fish fry. The second she got out of the car she noticed the chickens that they had and wouldn't leave them alone for the rest of the night. We were constantly pulling her out of the chicken coop or down from the stock fence. I think she has a little ranch girl in her.

Sun!

Since there is finally some sun today, we decided to take advantage and hit the archery course. Lila did great! She moved around a little which was fun for Eric trying to shoot, but she didn't complain at all. I think she was just happy to get out of the house.
In other news, I finally beat Eric on one target. Ok, it's one out of 18 but the point is that I beat him.

4-Wheeling

One of Lila's favorite things to do after dinner is go for a 4-wheeler ride around the block with her dad. She's got a bossy streak in her (no comments, Mom) and insists on telling him which way she wants to go. At every intersection she points and says "That way."

She loves pushing the throttle...or any other button or control she can reach.

Easter 2011

The weather was perfect this Easter and Lila had a great time playing in the yard and hunting Easter eggs. We put an M&M in each egg and once she figured that out, she was running around the yard like crazy trying to find more eggs. After she'd found them all, she even sat down and started shaking them all again to make sure she didn't miss any M&Ms.

The Birthday Week Continues

The Morrison's came to visit the weekend to help Lila blow out more candles. Lila loved seeing her aunt and uncle and had a great time playing with her cousin Jack. She wasn't, however, so sure about the candle on her cupcake. At first she just nervously looked at it saying "hot, hot," but she quickly moved on to screaming for her life. Oh well, maybe she'll be up to blowing out candles next year. :)

Lila's Birthday Week

Lila has already figured out how to spread her birthday out for a whole week. Last week, she received a package from her great aunt Diane who had found these great needlework fabric books while visiting Laos. Then, on her actual birthday, Friday, they had cupcakes and sang for her at daycare. She came home singing "Happy YOU, Happy YOU" over and over. Lila finished off her day with a visit from some friends bearing more birthday gifts.

Saturday we decided to take advantage of the nice weather and take the kids out for a hike.

The park we went to is near the airport so we had to stop often for Lila to point out planes.



Sunday, she had a play date with a friend so she could pickup even more birthday goodies and next week, the birthday celebration continues with a visit from her grandma and grandpa Wolff. More pictures to follow, I'm sure.
