The Slinky

During Christmas Lila managed to dig up her cousin's slinky and just loved it. Needless to say, I thought she needed one of her own. Mostly she just likes the sound it makes but then she'll put one end in her mouth and start crawling away until she has a good 5 feet dragging along behind her. Who knows what the kid will think when she finds out what it can do on the stairs.

Lila's First Christmas

We had a great first Christmas with Lila. We drove over to Sturgis Christmas Eve to spend the night with my sister. We ended up getting snowed in for two days, but Lila had a great time with her cousin Jack and her Aunt and Uncle Morrison.

Sunday we dug ourselves out and spent the day with Eric's family, had a nice dinner and helped Lila open all her presents. One of her gifts was this walker, which she took off on right away. A bit more practice on this thing and she'll be walking in no time.



Lila also got lots of cute outfits and a new set of bows (which she actually doesn't seem to mind wearing). Who needs hair when you look this cute in a bow!

Fun With Food

Well, fun for Lila at least. Her new favorite thing to do when she eats is to get a mouth full of food and then blow. It backfires a little bit when the spoon is still in front of her mouth, but she doesn't seem to mind too much.

Lila still hasn't gotten over her fascination with Jake. She follows him everywhere.

Thanksgiving 2009

We had a busy Thanksgiving in Spearfish this year. Lila's GG had her 80th birthday party the Saturday after, so there were lots of cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents and great-grandparents vying for Lila's attention. I think it was a little overwhelming for her, but she had a good time.

Cousin Jackson loved to hold Lila. He was snorting like a pig to make her laugh.

She had a little trouble getting up the step to the other room at her Grandparents, but finally managed to do it the last night we were there.



Lila loved her early Christmas present from Grandpa Vaplon. She's a little young for the tent, but the tube was a big hit!

Poor Jake

While we all may think how wonderful it is that Lila is finally crawling, Jake isn't quite as excited and it doesn't help that she thinks he is the most interesting thing in the world. Lila started crawling up to him while he was enjoying his bone last night and you could hear his discontented grumblings from across the room. Eventually he figured out that she was not going to be deterred and he got up and left the room. I guess they'll need a little more time to become "BFFs."



All it takes is for you to put something in front of her that she wants....

7 Months

For a while I thought that Jake was actually taking an interest in Lila...about second later he slowly reached over and stole the book she was playing with.


Lila's new favorite thing is jumping or bouncing. She likes the one that goes in the doorway pretty well but she goes crazy in the bouncing playstation they have at daycare. I'm surprised she hasn't made herself sick yet.

She's also getting better at sitting up. Her only problem seems to be that all of the things/toys that she wants aren't where she is. She only lasts a few minutes before she's wondering off to check something else out.

Just this week, Lila has really gotten the hang of the crawling thing. We'll need to get the house proofed this weekend if we ever want to take our eyes off her again.
